Breaking News

The next District Roundtable will be November 8th, 7:p.m. at the the LDS Church located at 1001 Ruth St., Prescott.  If you haven't attended a Roundtable, this is an excellent opportunity to learn more about upcoming events and receive valuable training for your scouting leadership position.

 

The next District Committee Meeting will be November 6th, 7:p.m. at the Prescott LDS Stake located at 1101 Sandretto Dr., Prescott.  The district committee always welcomes additional volunteers to help prepare upcoming camps, fundraising, or recruiting events!

Your Arizona Sundogs are hosting Scout Night on Tuesday 12/12/12, which is also the Sundogs Blades for Grades Night.  Youth from the entire Prescott area will be in attendance as reward for their scholastic accomplishments!  We will be featured on the JumboTron and will get to host our own Kiosk for recruiting!  Click here to register, and directly notify Jeremy Beakley if you would like to recruit at our Kiosk before, after, or during one period of play.

Be sure to add the Old Capitol District Dinner to your Calendars!  We'll be recognizing recipients of special awards and enjoying dinner at the Prescott LDS Stake Center.

Citizenship in the Nation Merit Badge

Guidance Aviation Hosts the Aviation Merit Badge!  Come enjoy flight simulators and a REAL flight on January 19th.  Sign up for Group A or Group B.  Space is limited!

The Verde District invites the Old Capitol District to a Merit Badge Roundup at the Cottonwood Stake Center.  There will be two Winter Sessions with a number of excellent merit badges; some will require both sessions to complete.  Please register for Session 1 and/or Session 2

Trainer's EDGE is designed as a replacement for Train the Trainer Courses and Trainer Development Conference. This course will give you a better understanding of the training process. Click here

The primary purpose of the Wood Badge experience is to strengthen Scouting in our units and district by training adult leaders. Click here

The Powder Horn course is designed to help the unit by mentoring older Scouts, Venturers, and adult leaders to safely conduct outdoor/high-adventure activities of a fun and challenging nature.

Cub Scout Leader POW WOW will be held on Nov. 3rd. This year: new time, place, classes and faces. To register click here.

University of Scouting on November 3rd is a supplemental training for adult leaders. Click here for information and registration.

Shotgun Instructor, Range Safety Officer and Home Firearms Safety Courses are intended for BSA registered leaders and those affiliated with BSA. Click on the name for more information.

Camporee, Jamborees, and Treks
   

Interested in attending Philmont? Howard Jackson, a Northern Districts Team Advisor is building a team to attend the Council High Adventure Program at Philmont in June 2013 . Contact Howard Jackson to express your interest in joining either as a scout or scouter!

 
Aquatics Training (see age restrictions)

Swim & Water Rescue prepares a unit leader to confidently supervise unit swimming activities in pool or open water. This course expands Safe Swim Defense to include training in swimming, basic rescue, personal and group safety skills. Click here for dates.

The Canoeing Merit Badge course is designed for both youth and adults to become trained in the basics of canoeing in a single weekend. For details click here.

The Paddle Craft Safety Course is designed for those older youth (at least 16 years of age) and adults wishing to acquire the necessary paddling and trip-leading skills to lead troops on quiet-water trips. For details click here.

The Verde River Trip and Whitewater Canoe Training Course is designed for venturing-age youth (14 yrs.) wishing to earn Whitewater Merit Badge and leaders who will provide the requisite leadership for the trip. For details click here.

Baden Powell Program - The new Baden Powell Program has taken the place of the Quality Unit Program. This award is available for all areas of Scouting, each with slightly different requirements
